  4. 4 Jun 2008 at 3:44pm
okay, i know i already poted thi question, but i accidentaly put it under the section "entertainment and music - movies" so i'm putting it under "art" this time. :S http://www.mostlyposters.com/images/post... okay. so i have this poster, (link above) and i know it's a ralph steadman picture. and on it, two titles are written. in the bottom right hand corner, it says ' "the savage journey" Ralph Steadman, copyright 2005.' but in the bottom left hand corner, it says 'Ralph Steadman -Fear and loathing.' what's the actual title? and also, I bought it, not knowing anything about it. i just thought it looked cool. and then whenever people saw it, they'd either say some sort of quote or tell me they loved that movie. after a bit of research, i found out that "fear and loathing in las vegas" is the name of a novel and a movie, but how does this picture come into play? HELP! P.s. thanks. :) sorry about the first sentence in the question... there's something wrong with the "s" key on my keyboard... sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. :P

  8. 2 Jun 2008 at 12:22am
First of all, it is worth noting that literature plays an integral role within the society. Therefore, the function of literature can be various. To these functions we can relate entertaining, educative, etc. Literature serves as the means of displaying a particular culture as well as social change or conflict. A reader feel empathy with the protagonists while reads a literary work. Consequently, in order to engage a reader all literary works should have an introductory part, a main body and a conclusion. It is well-known that words have the power to impress a reader and words force a reader feel different feelings such as pity, joy, happiness, interest, angry, etc. The aim of any writer is to stimulate these emotions of a reader. In this way, people obtain an experience and use a logical thinking that helps in future life experience. The book ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin? written by Harriet Beecher Stowe is a novel that has become a valuable contribution to history studies of America. The author of the novel ?Uncle Toms? Cabin? has undertaken the great task of presenting such urgent questions of that time in her book. In fact, this novel brought a storm of criticism but at least this novel has served it?s the role in the history of the United States because it put an end to slavery. Therefore, the central idea of the book is the analysis of existing problem by means of revealing it within a novel that is based on personal experience, American laws that constitute the existence of slavery etc. The author of the well-known novel in the history of the United States has succeeded in the purpose to create a touching book, which has come into the history of literature as the most influential one that gave the fist step of ending slavery in the United States. In addition, the present book includes the forty-five sections that introduce the reader with a deep sense of situation that has been in America. Here, it is important to point out that the well-known writer, Harriet Beecher Stowe greatly contributed to the ending of the slavery in the United States. She is considered to be one of the leading writers of the 19th century. Due to the novel ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin? she achieved success and prominence. Nevertheless, ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin? is just one novel among other literary works written by Harriet Beecher Stowe. It is worth noting that the present book is the example of how the role of a person is important in understanding a work of literature. Besides, it represents the reader?s emotion versus emotions in characters and an emotional style used by the author. Harriet Beecher Stowe perfectly represents the inner world of her protagonists focusing on the importance of social values. Moreover, we should examine what events in the novel ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin? written in 1851 by Harriet Beecher Stowe have been harshly criticized as ?sentimental? or as ?over-emotional? in the novel. ?The scenes of this story, as its title indicates, lie among a race hitherto ignored by the associations of polite and refined society; an exotic race, whose ancestors, born beneath a tropic sun, brought with them, and perpetuated to their descendants, a character so essentially unlike the hard and dominant Anglo-Saxon race as for many years to have won from it only misunderstanding and contempt? (Stowe 1999, p. xxxv). It is necessary to note that such aspects as research of the slavery?s problem, integrated models for understanding relationship and for learning and managing change, the analysis of the influence of the external environment on that change covered in this novel are relevant to a situation in the United States in the nineteenth century. The author?s main point is that slavery is the problem that takes place in the whole world. We should emphasize that the novel ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin? does not offer quite new information but gives examples that perfectly illustrate the existing problem and therefore it is a useful and worth reading novel. In fact, the novel ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin? has been perfectly written and due to a clear language author reproduced the time, culture, civilization and the soul of that time. In his novel, the author uses secondary and primary sources such as the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850. Harriet Beecher Stowe gives explanations, examples and much is done to give some background information as the book is written for diverse audience. For instance, ?the cabin of Uncle Tom was a small log building, close adjoining to ?the house? as the negro par excellence designates his master?s dwelling. In front it had a neat garden-patch, where, every summer, strawberries, raspberries, and a variety of fruits and vegetables, flourished under careful tending. The whole front of it was covered by a large scarlet, bignonia and a native multiflora rose, which entwisting and interlacing, left scarce a vestige of the rough logs to be seen? (Stowe 1999, p. 20). ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin? is about the research conducted on the ending of slavery in the United States, as well as in different parts of the world, where this problem existed. It is necessary to note that people can learn some new facts presented in the book; besides, students would like to read this story that illustrates the examples from life represented by Harriet Beecher Stowe. Furthermore, the author uses various sources of information on which Harriet Beecher Stowe bases her study presented in the novel, though the majority of materials come from her own experience. It is necessary to stress that the author of the book has good literary skills. Personally, I am impressed with the author?s analysis of the topic. The book is well-organized and well-written that make it useful and informative. Thus, the novel ?Uncle Tom's Cabin? is worth reading for students and professionals. Therefore, Harriet Beecher Stowe? novel ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin? is a regarded to be the bright example of how the words can affect the reader and what impact they bring in the very core. Harriet Beecher Stowe has written her novel ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin? during the Romantic period of American Literature. In this novel puritan ethnic can be vividly observed. Harriet Beecher Stowe has come into the history of the literature as one of the first female writers who has gained fame and respect during a Romantic period, namely, during the 19th century. Nowadays, her works obtained a new success because the issues elaborated within her works are considered to be urgent till nowadays. The novel ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin? is full of deep sense and symbolic meanings that perfectly give an understanding of the difficulty of the situation. For example, ?die on the field of battle, die on the field of battle, glory in my soul? (Stowe 1999, p. 28). Symbolic meaning of the word ?golden city? can be understood as the desirable goal, in other words, ending of slavery. Hence, it is important to point out that American history is full of important events that has greatly influenced on it. The efforts of Harriet Beecher Stowe helped to end slavery within the United States. One of the greatest leaders, Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the U.S. called Harriet Beecher Stowe as a little lade who started a Civil War. The major contribution of Abraham Lincoln to the American history was fighting for liberty for slaves. He supported the rights of American slaves and in March 4, 1861 he was elected the 16th President of the United States. The Emancipation Proclamation was put into effect on January 1, 1863. It was the beginning of ending slavery. When analyzed the novel ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin? by Harriet Beecher Stowe we have come to the conclusion that literature is an important part of a human life. Sometimes it is used to show life on the examples of their predecessors; sometimes it is used as an entertainment activity due to which people lessen their daily stress; and sometimes it is used as an educational means of learning historical facts. Consequently, literature represents the special interest for a wide audience of people. Art will live forever because its beauty has no borders. People always will enjoy the literary works, where they can find interesting information about the history of their country and so on. Harriet Beecher Stowe wanted people to remember that personal values should be appreciated and therefore she was fighting for the equality of human rights because God created all people equal despite their race, religion, and color of skin. Summarizing, we can state that the novel ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin? written by Harriet Beecher Stowe, that brought success to the author, reveals such issues as politics, religion, race and gender. Besides, social beliefs concerning family and motherhood have been touched in the novel ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin?. This novel is a perfect embodiment of culture within the United States in the nineteenth century. Harriet Beecher Stowe makes an emphasis on the personal and social values. Thus, the book ?Uncle Tom?s Cabin? is worth reading for a wide audience.

  9. Resolved Question: Help? Good book suggestion - for a fastidious reader?
  10. 1 Jun 2008 at 9:58pm
I like to read, but unfortunately I'm extremely hard to please - literature-wise. When it comes to art, I don't like anything ordinary. So can you help me find some books to read? Here is what I look for in a book (can include any or all of these): - Number one, it can't be popular fiction. I want to read something that makes me think on a multitude of levels and that is open to interpretation. Not an "empty" read, like one for pure entertainment. - Beautiful words and imagery. I love wordplay, symbolism, double meanings, etc. - Original themes. - Subjects can vary. I like nature, love and relationships, beautiful things. - I like anything artistic, experimental, even something surreal will be great. (Think Finnegan's Wake - James Joyce). - I am open to essays, but I?m looking more for fiction. - Also a big deal for me is the beginning of a work; if it has a bad or ordinary opening, then I am reluctant to read it. You can?t judge a book by its cover, but I tend to judge it from the first page or so. - Doesn't have to be fiction. - The weirder, the better! Some examples of literature or authors that I like: The Awakening ? Kate Chopin The Importance of Being Earnest ? Oscar Wilde A Clockwork Orange ? Anthony Burgess Lolita ? Vladimir Nabokov Bernard Malamud Ralph Waldo Emerson The Bible I liked Memoirs of a Geisha A childhood favorite of mine (I still like it) is Someday Angeline ? Louis Sachar I also liked the Chronicles of Narnia series Edgar Allan Poe, sometimes I thought that The Beast in the Jungle (Henry James) was interesting, but somewhat dull to read. All opinions are welcome. Even if it doesn't meet all or any of the criteria, if you really think it's worth reading, please mention it, but also explain why you chose it. Thank you in advance, really!

  24. 25 May 2008 at 4:12pm
I've always wanted to be a singer/dancer/songwriter/artist/ fashion designer... Thing is..after I ACTUALLY graduated high school. I just thought that i had to go to college for SOMETHING so that if my career as an entertainer doesn't work out. I can always go back to something.. I hate studying too long so i thought an AA would be appropriate. Now that I'm finishing my first year in Fashion Design for my AA.. I hate it..and I don't even buy clothes anymore, or magazines..or really visit stores. I know that I should just continue till next year to get my AA..but I love sketching, painting..etc and thought I've always wanted to get an AA degree in illustration or studio arts after my Fashion Degree and then pursue a career in the Entertainment industry... I just don't get why my heart changed...and funny thing is is that if I ever become rich. I do want to open a line of clothes.. What is wrong with me...?? My mom is very upset.. [sighs..sighs..]

As the vice regents of God, we are to exercise godly dominion and influence over our neighborhoods, our schools, our government, our literature and arts, our sports arenas, our entertainment media, our news media, our scientific endeavors -- in short, over every aspect and institution of human society." http://www.theocracywatch.org/ whoah...some of you guys are fricken scary...you really DO want a theocracy. you 'say' you dont...but you obviously really do!

  33. Resolved Question: Becoming a Paralegal , as a new career idea.....?
  34. 23 May 2008 at 3:29pm
Hi- I was wondering if any Paralegals or those who know about this career, can give any inisight to me, I am embarking on a new phase. I was trained only as an actress and writer, though an AA worth of Psychology credits and have worked with the mentally ill, but no real CAREER as I only focused on the arts mainly. I have tired and lost some of the the prerequisite crazed blind ambition for the entertainment industry, no interest in reality TV stardom and that crap people tend to get in the beginning! I really only like film, theatre and well writen TV like Dexter (and hey, I like to eat once and a while, call me crazy-lol so making a steady. comfy living has started lookin' pretty good to a starving artist. I need to BUCKLE down and focus on completion on a degree. I have always been interested in ethics and law, particularlly consumer advocacy and those in need of help, and thought perhaps my curious mind could be of use. I love research, reading, deatail, library etc... PS I was typing fast, noticed a few typos here, I am actually pretty good at spelling and writing. Funny, as I boast I am "reely a vary good typist and can spell and do reaserch " lol jk.

  39. Resolved Question: Ivention Help?
  40. 22 May 2008 at 10:25am
Appropriate - Your invention should be appropriate for a school setting. You may want to think about improving something that already exists. Perhaps you have an interest in the environment or in cars. Perhaps you enjoy sports, movies, entertainment, or the arts. Think about your interests as you think about creating an invention. Originality - It may certainly be a variation of something in use, but the more original the better. Functionality - It should be something that would be useful to you or to others. Realistic - It should be something that could possibly be made sometime in the future

  45. Resolved Question: Didi help you with this?
  46. 21 May 2008 at 4:43pm
How to Get a Girlfriend It is usually harder for guys to get a girlfriend than it is for girls to get a boyfriend. For all those who haven't been lucky in the love department, follow these steps to become attractive to women. [edit] Steps 1. Have good personal hygiene. You don't have to be Brad Pitt to get a girl. For the most part, just caring about how you are is enough. Wear clothes that fit, and make sure your body is clean. (Keep white Teeth, trimmed nails, clean Hair, Shave unibrows, etc...) 2. Keep up a good posture, walk steadily and smile. Women do not like slouchers. Bad posture gives the impression of low confidence. Smiling makes a guy more friendly and welcoming. A good walking style,(straight back, a hand in the pocket and taking well-distanced strides) gives the impression of intelligence. 3. Wearing a large amount of cologne is Not a good idea, wearing 2 or more different types of cologne is an even worse idea, and always remember with your smell, a little goes a Long way. 4. Pick a location frequented by a significant number of girls where you feel fairly comfortable, perhaps a place that is conducive to a skill of yours: music, public speaking, or a private intimate conversation. Go out and have a good time. Guys who stare and walk around constantly looking for women immediately lower their value. Go out with your friends to a bar or club (or any public place, such as a bookstore, if you're more of the studious type) and start out by genuinely having a good time. The Internet does not count. 5. Be funny. If you're not naturally funny, don't try too hard around her. Pitch jokes to other people first and see how the jokes do with them. If you get no laughs there, just pray, because it's gonna be hard winning a girl without humor. 6. "Plant some seeds". Flirt casually with waitresses. Make a passing comment and smile to a girl walking by. Toast a woman at the bar. Then go back to having a good time with your friends. In a short time, you'll notice women slowly gravitating to you. 7. Qualify them. Don't be a jerk about it... but in a fun, playful way, make her prove her value to you. Something as simple as "Are you open-minded? Cool, because I like open-minded people." 8. Talk. Silence is uncomfortable. (On the other hand, women or men who do nothing but talk and never listen can be annoying.) 9. Learn how to flirt. Flirting is an art, and is easily the most important social skill for men to learn. Try taking a comedy class, or talk to her like she's your little sister...but do so with a smile, so she will know you are kidding. 10. Connect with her. Find out what you have in common, and reward her with a smile and a story of your own if she tells you something unique about herself that you can relate to. WARNING: If she gives you something like "Oh, I like to go shopping", don't reward her for that. It's not unique. Instead, ask for more information and then connect with it. 11. Look and touch. Looking into a girl's eyes shows respect and interest. A firm handshake, a gentle pat on the back, a light touch of the hand and other subtle gestures allow the girl to feel connected with the guy. 12. Feel great. The feeling will radiate and affect the lady too. 13. Don't pretend to be someone you aren't. You may think you will win her over with like mindedness, but in the end she will find you out. Find a common interest, something you both like instead. 14. Show your interest. The best way to get out of the "friend trap" is to avoid it from the start. After finding common interests, make your intentions clear. "You know, I just realized it. Not only are you pretty, but you're fun to talk to." 15. Ask for her number. Give her your phone, tell her "Put your number in my phone and I'll call your phone so you'll have mine." 16. And once you establish that special, exclusive relationship of boyfriend and girlfriend do not--I repeat--do not stop the chivalry. Women are too special to only be waited on conditionally. The best way to show her you care is to continue to do the little things for her. You still need to open her car door, walk her home, kiss her goodnight. ALWAYS call her at night to bid her goodnight (it's best to wait a few hours after your date to do this, otherwise you'll seem a tad desperate.) Remember, show affection and respect and you'll get affection and respect. [edit] Tips * Body language is very important. Be sure to keep a sturdy, upright frame and look her in the eye. Now, be careful not to stare at her either. Being natural is key. * If you are nervous, and going out to meet women, be sure to start talking to people as soon as you reach your destination. Chat up the staff at the door, or the people who let you into the party. Be open from the start. * Put on great-smelling aftershave or cologne. Research the best-selling ones at department stores. Unless, that is, the girls you like tend to be more on the outdoors or tomboy side of things. Some girls detest the scent of cologne. Do not marinate yourself with scents. Ladies complain of too much cologne, not too little. Do not exceed the maximum of three sprays on the upper body. Especially if you wear cologne every day. It's the general problem where a person gradually become accustomed to the cologne levels in their own scent that they need more and more of the stuff to be able to smell it themselves. You might not be able to smell it, but it's there. * Guys do not need to look like Brad Pitt to find a girlfriend. Just keep hair, teeth and nails clean and neat. Ladies are quick to notice little details especially in the hands and faces. * Be a good conversationalist. Read up on the latest in politics, entertainment, arts and even sports news. Women love a well-informed man. It makes him look well-educated and, therefore, richer in every aspect. Or just actually be well-educated. * Do listen to the lady before responding. Women do not like to be cut off. They like to be considered and feel important. * Do pay on the first drink, first date, first taxi cab ride, etc. It makes a gentleman out of a man. * Very important - offer to walk or drive the lady home (or anywhere she wants to go). This makes the man seem sincerely concerned for her well-being. * Don't say things you need to explain, this is the biggest mood killer. * Be honest and forthright, but not aggressive. Girls appreciate you telling them how you feel. * Don't annoy your girl by texting her every night. If she texts you, reply but unless you have something to say then don't text. It gets annoying when someone keeps texting you saying "what r u doing?", so if you absolutely can't go without saying something everyday, at least correct your grammar. At the very minimum, spell words correctly. * Don't be afraid to display your affection in public. * Dress to match, Black and Whites, Browns and Blues, even if they don't say anything, girls notice. * Don't be afraid to touch her, if you find yourself flirting, lightly touch her arm or waist. * Be a gentleman! Open car doors for her and remember the "ladies first" rule * Be Yourself * If you're going to the movies, get one large popcorn to share it, and maybe your hands will touch. [edit] Warnings * Do not attempt to stalk the lady! Know when she means no! * Do not ask out someone too young because they are probably not ready. * Grinning like the Cheshire cat can often creep someone out. Unless she likes that, but hey, it's your girl. * Taking over the entire conversation is over-bearing and rude. * Do not insist relentlessly on an offer when the lady has turned it down. It may be that she has no use for or does not feel good about the suggestion. Pushing her to accept will only increase the possibility of rejection. No one likes to feel forced into doing something. This should be mutual, OK? * Avoid being a close talker. Nobody likes that. (particularly if you have bad breath) * Don't make disgusting body jokes, or ask them their age or weight. Girls hate that. * Don't make her feel like a sex object instead of a human being, unless you're trying to get a loose girl. Less promiscuous girls are turned off by such patronization and bigotry. 57. Resolved Question: Why do people look down on dancers?
  58. 19 May 2008 at 11:21am
For my cousin atleast he says that they are wasting their time when they could be pursuing more serious endavours like something in business etc. He basically says they're childish , and is always implying they are dumb too. His biggest beef though is with Black dancers, he claims that instead of using their energy to get ahead in life , their too busy back flipping, and head spinning for the entertainment of other races who are more serious than them.I tried to tell him that dance is an art, and very intelligent people usually have an art they adhere to like music, aesthetic arts, etc. For blacks usually it's dance, there are doctors who explore all kinds of dance in they're spare time.

  65. Resolved Question: what wwe/wwf title do you want to see comeback?
  66. 16 May 2008 at 10:49am
    1. Light Heavyweight championship. The WWF Light Heavyweight Championship is a former professional wrestling title competed for under the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) banner by wrestlers billed as weighing less than 215 lb (98 kg). The title was first introduced in Japan for the Universal Wrestling Association, although the it wasn't considered as an official WWF title until after 1997, when a tournament was held in the United States to crown a champion. To this date, WWE does not recognize any reigns prior to 1997. The title was abandoned in 2001, when the WWF decided to adopt the WCW Cruiserweight Championship as its replacement. 2. Hardcore championship WWE Hardcore Championship is a former professional wrestling title competed for in World Wrestling Entertainment under hardcore rules. The title was created on November 2, 1998.The first champion was Mankind, who was awarded the title by Vince McMahon. The title was finally retired on August 26, 2002 when WWE Intercontinental Champion Rob Van Dam defeated Hardcore Champion Tommy Dreamer to unify the Hardcore title into the Intercontinental title. 3. WWF European Championship The title was created on February 26, 1997. The first champion was The British Bulldog who defeated Owen Hart in a tournament final. The title was first abandoned in 1999 when Shane McMahon hid the belt in his duffel bag.The title was later found by Mideon, which made the belt once again in use.The title was finally retired on July 22, 2002 when WWE Intercontinental Champion Rob Van Dam defeated European Champion Jeff Hardy to unify the European title into the Intercontinental title. 4. Million Dollar Championship The Million-Dollar Championship was an unsanctioned title in the World Wrestling Federation created by The "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase. The belt is currently unused, and is kept in a vault at WWE headquarters. 5. WWF Canadian Championship In August 1985, the World Wrestling Federation took over the Montreal-based International Wrestling (Lutte Internationale) promotion. Upon joining the WWF roster, IW mainstay Dino Bravo was billed as the WWF Canadian Champion in some Canadian cities until January 1986, when the title was abandoned. 6. WWF Junior Heavyweight Championship The WWWF Junior Heavyweight Championship is a former championship recognized by the World (Wide) Wrestling Federation and New Japan Pro Wrestling for wrestlers of smaller size. The title existed from 1967 through 1985. 7. WWF World Martial Arts Heavyweight Championship WWWF World Martial Arts Heavyweight Championship was a professional wrestling championship contested in the World Wrestling Federation and in New Japan Pro Wrestling. The belt was created on December 18, 1978, and awarded to NJPW mainstay Antonio Inoki by the then owner of the WWWF, Vincent J. McMahon, upon Inoki's arrival in the promotion. The original intention was that the title would be defended in legitimate shoot fights. The title was contested only in NJPW after the promotion severed its ties with the WWF in 1985, and Inoki abandoned the title during his second reign in 1989. 8. WWF North American Heavyweight Championship The WWF North American Heavyweight Championship was a short-lived title in the World Wrestling Federation from 1979 until 1981. It is considered to be the spiritual predecessor to the WWE Intercontinental Championship after Pat Patterson was awarded the Intercontinental Championship as a consequence of holding the North American Championship. 9. ECW Tag Team Championship The Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) World Tag Team Championship was the tag team championship contested in Eastern Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling between June 1992. 10. ECW Television Championship The ECW World Television Championship was the secondary title in Extreme Championship Wrestling from 1992 until it folded in 2001. The title was almost on level with the ECW World Title when Rob Van Dam held it due to the calibre of matches he had. He had a 23-month reign as champion that only ended due to an injury. His title reign had propelled him into the World Title picture when the injury occurred. i forgot about the cruiserweight title.

  85. Resolved Question: What do you think about my Research Report introduction?
  86. 7 May 2008 at 10:14pm
Ancient Rome Ancient Rome was one of the most powerful and well-known ancient civilization of all times because of its size, powerful army, building structure, religion, and great inventions. It was a civilization that grew from a small peninsula founded by two brothers known as Remus and Romulus. Rome quickly improved and gained lands with the help of Romulus being first leader of the city. Rome controlled parts of Asia, Africa, and Europe. The civilization shifted from a monrachy, to a republic based on oligarchy and democracy, and lastly to a poweful empire. Life in Rome was sometimes harsh, so Romans had free entertainment. Rome was influenced by 2 other civilizations; the Eutruscans and Greeks. Their influence taught them about religion, art, and artitechture. The great civilization lasted for over 1,000 years until the empire was too big to substain by 1 single emperor.

  87. Resolved Question: What wild crazy fun game can we play at party?
  88. 6 May 2008 at 11:12pm
I am having a vegan cookout party for a bunch of adult hippies and their children. Probably about 20- 25 people. #1, I need a really good vegan cookout menu. #2, We have a play place, a small pool, and a go cart, so the kids will entertain themselves easily. As for the adults... I want to do something really interesting and different for entertainment. The worst ideas people have given me have been 1, play cards. 2, play board games.(Too boring.) 3, play charades, 4, put on a play. (Too involved) 5, A band . The best ideas people have given me were 1, Make model rockets and shoot them off. 2, Paint each other, (Fun, but weird and messy) 3, make plastic clay art, cook it in the oven, send everyone home with their own crafts. 4, Buy a bunch of giant colorful balls and roll around the yard. 5 play some sort of "teamwork" games. I still don't think anyone's given me the perfect idea. Please give me vegan cookout food ideas, and entertainment ideas. Thank you Thanks.. I'll look for Catch Phrase! :) And, nooooo... no sex at this party. It's a family thing. Someone suggested sand castle building in another question, so I'm thinking of getting bags of colored sand now. More ideas??

  91. Resolved Question: **FUN QUESTlON!** {{...A UTOPIAN DOG SOCIETY...?}}?
  92. 5 May 2008 at 7:27pm
What would a society need for it to be a UTOPIA for both dogs AND their owners? Use your imagination! It can be as crazy as you want! What would you name the society? If you can't think up anything from scratch, here are some topics to get you started. You don't have to use anything here, though. Just have fun! -beliefs -gender roles -rules/laws -education -dining -maps -sightseeing -free time -rights of individuals -arts and entertainment -average climate -medical facilities -type of government -manner of dressing -creating families -family structure -treatment of various age groups -way in which professions are chosen -available transportation -parks and recreation facilities and programs -calendar of events -crime rate and punishment for crimes -celebrations and rituals

  93. Resolved Question: What is the meaning of this poem?
  94. 4 May 2008 at 9:35pm
"The wind tapped like a tired man" by Emily Dickinson... I honestly think it doesn't even have a meaning, but I have to say something in front of my class, and I'd hate to be wrong... please help! D: http://plagiarist.com/poetry/6541/ I mean, my language arts teacher said that sometimes poems are just writings that poets make just as a form of entertainment; that they didn't really put thought into a "meaning". I'm not saying that she says poems are meaningless; she just says that the author may not have had a really deep message to put into the poem. And I'm not asking what the wind actually did; I'm asking if there's some sort of MESSAGE or MORAL.

  98. 30 Apr 2008 at 12:35am
Can I get a good job with an AA in Liberal Arts (I'm going for BA in English for teaching or writing or editing..or maybe something else in that study).. like assist. teaching position? Editing position? Just something to get my foot in the door to prepare for the BA? I enjoy writing...so maybe journalism...but what types of JOBS can I get in that? I enjoy writing scripts... how would I get into the entertainment industry for that? And for teaching.. what else would I need besides BA in English? Like a teacher certification...anything else? Could I complete that while going for the BA? I feel like such a loser kinda b/c I have another 2 yrs for the bachelor's and I'll be 24 this August. But then four of my friends took 4+ yrs for just an AA and one even stopped there and he's older than me. I work retail for $9... can I get a better job with my AA?
